Twilight Sanctuary emits from Ryn, protecting his teammates from damage, and he says while looking at Richard’s body: “We shall avenge you, my friend.” The Nightwolf attempts to join the fight, but he crumples to the ground. Sunder immediately engages in melee combat. The second swing misses its mark, cracking the earth beside Haruko. Haruko jumps on top of a nearby building to get some leverage, but the Engorged One destroys the structure with its first swing. As the Mist is disappearing and it’s wounded from its fight with the fallen warriors, the party now has a slight chance to defeat this foe. It stomps on the ground and summons mist from the water around its body to protect himself from the dawn. Ryn turns and sees it, its skin sizzling and popping in the sunlight. Ryn tries to help him, but the Samurai warns that the Engorged One is coming and urges him to protect the villagers. In time the Mist parts and gives way to the rising dawn, but there is no time to celebrate Richard Freeheart’s half-eaten body slides across the ground towards them, and the Nightwolf crashes into a nearby building and is impaled by a piece of wood. The Samurai asks for assistance from the Lionfolk, and the two head out to buy time for the ritual. Richard, covered in blue blood, arrives from the north and proclaims his excitement about the new challengers to fight. The Nightwolf directs everyone to join the villagers who are performing a ritual. Even though the Engorged One is on their tail, the party reaches the bridge. The Mistviathan, a Mist-lord, immediately dives back down, but Sunder sees a banner of one of the many ships that travel between Kalkatesh and Glies between its teeth. Sunder’s instincts save him he dives out of the way as a gargantuan maw emerges from the river. The mist gets denser, but he doesn’t realize that the flames also signal his position to everything nearby, even the things in the water. Sunder gets close to the river and casts Burning Hands on the water in order to make the Mist more dense, hoping to block the Engorged One’s view. As they get closer, they hear sounds of combat on the bridge. However, the Engorged One still sees the party, so they start running as fast as possible. Hiro attempts to get its attention, but his bite is not enough to distract it, and the good boy eventually falls into the Mist.Įveryone tries their best to stealthily move towards the bridge. Although it cannot see the party, it heads in their direction. However, the spell does not work and shifts the creature’s attention towards them. Hex casts Suggestion on the Engorged One to get it to move southward. While Hiro draws away the nearby enemies, the party gets out of the building, Haruko again bringing Kang with him. Tori tells Hiro he is a good boy and now he needs to be a loud boy, so he jumps out of the building and yelps to get the Mist creatures’ attention. The Nightwolf is gathering the last of the villagers at the bridge to keep them safe. Richard’s voice bellows out, indicating he is engaging in combat. Tentacles come out of its mouth and scoop up the screaming villagers.īandit horns in the distance signal a full retreat, but they are drowned out by the screaming. Ryn sees that the Engorged One strips off the roof of a building. Hex, Haruko, Ryn Lostone, Sunder, and Tori Hayden are trapped in a building as it marches through the town. The Engorged One appears again in the village of Okogi as the mist continues its ways to the village while it was besieged by bandits working with the Eclipse. They only see it in passing, unnoticed by it because the shadow of the spell Pass Without a Trace enveloping them.
